This summer has been such a musically influential period in my life. I’ve discovered a new found love for more uptempo soul in all it’s forms, visited different venues to hear new (to me) DJs, played out of my normal setlist, and been humbled out of my own comfortability of how I see things from a musical perspective. It’s been an amazing journey and I have my close friends and DJ colleagues (of some sorts) to thank for that.

In this summer journey, one key influential person who has shared music and shook me into the light has recently released a mix as an ode to the summer of 2011. Released on Vinroc’s blog thatsthatstuff.com &  mixcrate (for FREE download), a mix by one of my dearest friends and someone who’s opinion and interest I hold high: The Whooligan. The mix includes artist from Jazzy Jeff, Bryan Boogie, Jose James, Fred Everything and much more. The name of the strategically mixed album is called “Heartbeat (a summer house mix)”. Album art work done by Arnelle Lozada whom The Whooligan included photos from this summer’s shenanigans. I’m very proud to have a cameo in the album art work but more so to have the selector of this album as my close friend.
