As far back as I can remember, I loved music and had a respected passion for it. I grew up surrounded by sounds from Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Roberta Flack, Earth Wind and Fire, Chaka Khan, The Beegees, The Beatles and much more. I've played piano since I was 7 (which I'm not that good at anymore). I taught myself guitar and have picked up DJing in the past couple years. I've always known that I wanted to express myself through music and for it to be a significant part of my life. There's so much to learn, listen to, and see. Follow me in my quest of new discoveries, rediscoveries, and current interest of my love.

I got an early birthday present from my man this last weekend. He bought me two tickets to see the legendary Gil Scott Heron at Yoshi’s this last Saturday. Though man man was unable to be my date that night, I was blessed to have brought my favorite mother/MC/Artist/heroine homies, Melina Jones. Who turned out to be perfect company.

The night was full of warmth & laughter from Gil Scott Heron’s stories of Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, and jokes that made me wish he was my grandpa.

I feel like it’s rare to find ANY artist to create a consistent flow of timeless work. But after hearing Gil Scott Heron perform a song off his NEW album : “I’m New Here” I knew he was one of those rare artist.

I was choked up and inspired at the same time… On that note, here is the song: I’ll Take Care of You.
