This Saturday I’m honored to be DJing for an event funded by San Francisco’s Art’s Commission that is supporting and recognizing all elements of hip hop as an art form. The party is all ages, so I’ll be busting out all my clean edits… heehee.
“Presented by The African American Art & Culture Complex and Infin8 Sync LLC
Co-Sponsored by the San Francisco Arts Commission
The exhibition is a celebration of the movement called Hip Hop. Join us as local artists share their vision of the four elements of Hip Hop. Defined by Afrika Bambaataa, founder of the Zulu Nation, the elements of Hip Hop are MC’ing, DJ’ing, urban art, graffiti writing, and breakdancing.
The opening reception is the celebration of the StreetSmARTS program created by the San Francisco Arts Commission in conjunction with the Department of Public Works. The StreetSmARTS celebration and the Elements of Hip Hop exhibition kick off with live muraling and movies. As the evening progresses there will be a DJ spinning, B-Boy contests and a midnight unveiling of the art pieces by local urban artists.
This celebration extends into the summer with monthly panel discussions hosted by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the African American Art & Culture Complex, Asia Pacific Islanders Cultural Center, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts and the Queer Cultural Center discussing Hip Hop and its impact on different cultures.”
